Frequently asked questions

Learning with Byte

What is Byte, exactly?

A Python app for interview patterns. Fifteen modules on one ordered path, each with a guided lesson and multiple choice questions on real Python. Sessions are short, and questions come one at a time.

Do I need to know Python already?

Some. The first module is Syntax, which covers the basics and the quirks that trip people up, so you do not need to be fluent. You do need to be able to read a short Python function.

Can I skip ahead to the module I want?

No. Modules unlock in order, because each one is built assuming the ones before it. Finish the module you are on and the next opens.

What is in a guided tour?

A short interactive lesson that walks the pattern with you before any questions. You tap, flip and step through it rather than watching slides, and it takes about two minutes.

What kinds of questions are there?

Output prediction, bug spotting, code completion, edge cases and time complexity. All multiple choice, all on real Python.

What happens when I get one wrong?

You get the reasoning behind the right answer, and you carry on. A wrong answer ends your run of consecutive correct answers, but it does not touch your daily streak: only missing a day does that.

Can I go back and redo a module?

Yes. Tap any finished module on the path to replay it. Replays do not award XP again.

What does the little "+3" on a finished module mean?

That module has new questions. Go back and try them whenever you like; the module stays complete either way.

Progress, XP and ranks

How does XP work?

Correct answers earn XP, and badges award more when you unlock them.

How do I rank up?

You rank up after completing certain modules, climbing from Beginner all the way to Senior Fellow.

How is my study time measured?

Only while you are actually inside a module or a lesson.

What is the weekly goal?

A weekly practice target that you decide, in minutes.

How do reminders work?

You choose the times in Settings, and Byte nudges you so you do not lose your streak.

Membership and billing

Is Byte free?

No. Byte is a membership, and all fifteen modules are included in it. There is no separate paid tier and nothing is sold inside the app on top of the membership.

Who handles the payment?

Apple. Byte never sees your card details. The membership is billed through your App Store account and appears on your Apple receipt.

How do I cancel?

Through your App Store subscription settings, the same place as every other iOS subscription. Cancelling there stops the renewal. Byte cannot cancel it for you, because Byte is not the one billing you.

I already paid but the app says I am not a member.

Open Settings inside the app and use Restore purchases. That asks Apple what you own and re-applies it. If it still does not resolve, get in touch.

Your account

How do I sign in?

With an email address and a password. Apple and Google sign-in are available on the login screen for getting back into an account you already have.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, from inside the app: Settings, then delete your account. It is a real deletion, not a deactivation, and it is reachable without contacting anyone.

What does Byte store about me?

Your account details, the answers you gave during onboarding, and your progress: modules completed, XP, streaks, practice time and badges. The privacy policy sets all of it out properly, field by field.

Byte is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Apple, Google, or any company whose interview process it prepares you for.
